Blackwell Public Schools

The 2021 Blackwell Public Schools bond, which garnered overwhelming community support with 80% voter approval, funded crucial renovations designed by Renaissance Architecture and overseen by Joe D. Hall as the construction administrator. The $23.55 million project modernized Blackwell High School’s facilities, creating a safer and more functional environment for students and staff.

High School Main Building (Built 1962)

The main building received significant updates, including a secure vestibule entry, ADA-compliant restrooms, and modernized classrooms with improved HVAC, electrical, fire suppression systems, LED lighting, and flooring. Additional renovations included upgrades to the kitchen, library, storm shelter, and parking areas.

Auditorium (Built 1968)

The auditorium was transformed with new accessible restrooms, a revamped storefront, seating, carpet, stage sound and lighting systems, and an HVAC upgrade, providing a top-tier space for performances and school events.

Vocational Agriculture and Band/Choir Rooms

The Vo-Ag and band/choir rooms were updated with new HVAC systems, flooring, ADA-compliant restrooms, and enhanced storage, ensuring modern, functional spaces for these programs.

Fieldhouse, Practice Gym, and Football Facilities

The newly constructed fieldhouse includes locker rooms, restrooms, concessions, and a press box. The practice gym and football facilities were also upgraded, featuring ADA ramps, new seating, and improved accessibility for spectators.

This large-scale project, made possible through the support of the Blackwell community, has revitalized the high school, ensuring that students can thrive in state-of-the-art facilities.
